Straightforward work often takes a same-day slot, because the van carries a key cutting machine and blanks for the Weiser, Schlage and Kwikset profiles almost every Coquitlam door runs on. What empties the calendar is a run of possession dates. What pushes a booking past the same day is hardware nobody keeps on a truck. Both are covered further down. A River Springs slot only gets confirmed once entry has been arranged, in whichever way suits you, so settle that at the booking and the date holds.
A smart deadbolt on a strata door is the second. Battery units fit the standard sixty or seventy millimetre deadbolt prep that most heavy exterior doors already carry, so nothing structural changes and councils here generally allow them. Generally is not always, and a council decision landing after the hardware is on the door helps nobody. Ask first, book second.
A car key is the third, and it is the one people forget until the technician is standing at the window. Cutting and coding a key to a vehicle means the vehicle has to be shown as yours before any of it starts: a driver's licence, the BC registration, and a VIN you can read off the dash. Keep the three within reach at your slot time. A booked key job with nothing to check against is a wasted window at both ends.
Slot length follows the number of keyed openings on the property, and around here that number is rarely the three people assume. A Westwood Plateau house can reach six once the side door into the garage, the door onto the back patio, the second garage door and whatever has been added across two decades are counted alongside the front. Harbour Chines runs to garden suites and basement suites, and the blocks backing onto Mundy Park to secondary suites, each of which wants a cylinder keyed clear of the main house so that a tenant's key opens the suite and stops there. Ranch Park properties tend to carry a back gate padlock and a side-yard door on top of the front door. Walk the property, count what takes a key, and put the number in the notes. The window then comes out the right length instead of running over into somebody else's.
Three things are worth flagging at the booking rather than discovering on the day. Restricted keyways, which turn up on the golf-course-perimeter streets of Westwood Plateau and on the larger River Springs builds, can be serviced on site, but a factory-sourced blank carries an order time and any duplication happens inside the authorization system you are already enrolled in. Say which system it is at the booking, because whether a key gets cut on the day or has to be ordered turns entirely on that answer. The heavier River Springs front doors often run a multi-point mechanism, where an adjustment fits a normal slot but a full mechanism replacement is quoted on its own and occasionally sits outside what a mobile call can do at all. And mortise hardware, which survives in Maillardville and in the oldest Cape Horn houses, usually gives out at the cam or the tailpiece. Those parts are frequently here same or next day when the lock body itself is still sound, so name the door's age on the booking and the part can be moving before your slot comes round.
A form is the wrong instrument for a door you are already standing outside of.
